Before established TCCIA, I always kept my eyes on curating and design. I had some piecemeal
brainstorming,
challenged and accepted new concepts, but I knew that there is something unfulfilled. Not until
I read a book
in an old bookstore at downtown, that my world opened up.
The book is about urban planning in Japanese colonization period. In August 1990,Japanese
colonization started
an urban planning called ‘Taipei city town plan’in Taiwan. Influenced by mainstream ‘travaux
haussmanniens’,
the population planning of Taipei City was six hundred thousand people. Japanese introduced the
latest concept
into Taipei City at that time. In this plan, they built up spacious streets and avenue, wide
park and square, new
sewer, fountain and canal. The plan committed to build Taipei City as an Asia version of Paris.
Hardware
development can be build in decades. But the software of humanist spirit can not do it at once.
In the light of
this, TCCIA has an indestructible goal to built this city as an Asia version of Paris.
I expect this association act as a bridge between Taipei city and international artistic
&cultural programs,
introduced a complete system and great activities. Besides, I sincerely hope that though this
platform, all
aspirants who have same goal as TCCIA, everyone could join us and participate in this great
plan.

You must have heard this story: A lazy person who lived in chaos, received
a beautiful flower by coincidence. Since then, his life has changed. He first
found out a long-kept vase covered with dust, and wiped the dirty desk
carefully. For aesthetic reasons, he cleaned up his room. In order to
commensurate the beautiful flower and spotless room. He then groomed
and well-dressed himself. And even changed his mentality, became a
hardworking person.
Art is to the city is being the medium of constructing the great culture,
regardless of value, it’s like the flower. Every city needs art, curation
helps people to develop insight and even habits for art appreciation.
Without restrictions or rules, trying to become a partner
with time. Culture of beauty could be narrated slowly, also the stunning of a
city could be seen and been proud of.
藝術之於城市, 不論價值,就像一朵花般,是建構偉大文化的介質;

Although out steps reflect the lifestyle wasn’t the first, but it still somehow proves the urgency
of
modern cities is fear in competitive. How to live in an ideal and balance life? Try to find an
average
speed between rapid strain of the city and the quiet and soothing life. I believe that those who live
in
the cities can play an important lubricant role if they try to get close to the art and cultural
activities.
Art performing combines diverse forms such as music, dance, drama, literature, and vision.
Demonstrate
aesthetic creativity and humanity through group interaction. Moreover, by appreciation and
participation, also with deepening the interaction and mutual trust between people, it’s an
important
experience for civil society to improve the quality of citizens.
A great city’s culture and art exhibition activities always show their profound inclusiveness! It is
every relative art and culture activities’ expectation and goal to help native and foreign art
activities emit sparks and ripples during their interactions. From traditional to contemporary
fields,
performing arts around the world constantly changes and innovate, which bring to the diachronic
transition. Meanwhile, with the advancement of nowadays information communication channels, the
phenomenon of rapid cultural exchange occurs all over the world, and form synchronic cross-cultural
displays among different performing art genres. These are also the main point that every performing
researcher is focusing on.
Taipei Cultural and Creative International Association look forward to bring the art and cultural
life
that contains multiracials, variation, and inclusiveness to Taipei citizens. Furthermore, TCCIA wants
to
stimulate the interaction between Taipei’s art activities and every other places around the world.
So,
make the foreign native, and perhaps native will also have the chance to be foreign!
Where are you from?
Lots of strangers might respond as the city name without hesitation;
Life is a seesaw battle between Flaneur and rapid march. Passing by a lot of cities; gathering
different
kinds of people. Under the collision of tradition and technology. A blending between new and old
lifestyles, Humanities are always more impressive than natural style.
Fashion is to the city is not like firework, however is more like a huge spotlight with its strong
and
rich imagination, trying to talk about a local story or even to promote the city.
Therefore, the smell of the air or the representative color might become an important basis to focus
on
the city.
Fashion is always the key to look back, while searching memories in quick image.
Where are you from?
很多人異郷人迫不及待地或許會以城市作為回應;
It’s not always about building a house while mentioning architecture, as if it’s not always about
being
sick, taking medicine or seeing a doctor, when talking about medical science. Therefore, the
architecture thing is not only belongs to those professional man. Everyone can care about
architecture,
talk about architecture, or even know well about architecture.
Imagine there is a group of children start to be curious about the material, the color, the shape or
even the scale of the flowerbed and washstand. Trying to give their own pleased imagination.
Thereby,
sprout the initial link between people and public environment. Also start to think about
architecture
and take a small step in social participation.
If couples can talk about not only their love stories but also how their future house like or how
pleasing their street style looks. That would add pheromones in the city which makes all these
relationships ahead forward, and ‘more meliorism’. Moreover, when the magic happens in the night,
they
would know if it’s the exact romance they want in such a space, in this case, it’s going to be much
more
meaningful about reproduction. If everyone come and talk about architecture, it might be a nice
chance
for everyone to return to the innocence of children and regenerate curiosity about the world. After
that
the streets may start to be more beautiful, the city would become even lovely, also there might be
more
and more lovers!
